Knee injuryOrthonika's Total Meniscus Replacement is an entirely anatomical replacement for the meniscus of the knee resembling the natural meniscus in both structure and function. The implant will be able to replace torn and damaged menisci within the knee joint and is seen as a means to help patients return to an active lifestyle, alleviate joint pain and delay or potentially avoid the onset of osteoarthritis and the eventual need for a total knee replacement.

Knee TMRWe anticipate less invasive surgery than for an allograft, immediate load bearing following implantation and thus shorter recovery times. We also envisage wider indications than for partial meniscal scaffolds which can only be utilised for conservative injuries and when the meniscal rim is intact.

The implant is now at the pre-clinical stage and we are developing a replacement for the medial meniscus.
